Also ehrlich, ich hab mich den ganzen Tag auf das Wild Card Game gefreut. Nordic Storm gegen Rhein Fire – Titelverteidiger gegen Debütanten. Und ich dachte mir: Klar, das wird ein Statement-Spiel von Fire. Aber was dann passiert ist? Komplett wild.
Nordic Storm geht früh in Führung, und ich denk noch: „Okay, das ist nur der Anfang, Fire kommt gleich.“ Und dann – BAM – Jonathan Scott mit einem 69-Yard-Touchdown-Lauf. Ich bin fast vom Sofa gesprungen. So ein Ding, einfach durch die Mitte, bricht zwei Tackles, rennt allen davon. Das war Fire-Football, wie ich ihn liebe. Und ich dachte: Jetzt geht’s los.
Aber Nordic Storm? Die haben einfach weitergemacht. Jadrian Clark war nicht zu stoppen. Drei Touchdown-Pässe, als wär’s ein Trainingsspiel. Und Simon Fons? Der Typ fängt zwei Dinger in der Endzone, als ob er magnetische Handschuhe trägt. Ich mein, come on.
Fire hat sich reingekämpft, keine Frage. Harlan Kwofie mit einem starken Lauf-TD, Jeffries mit soliden Pässen – aber irgendwie hat’s nicht gereicht. Am Ende steht’s 28:23 für Storm. Und ich sitz da, starr auf den Bildschirm, und denk mir: „Das war’s?“
Ich bin Rhein Fire Fan durch und durch. Zwei Jahre Titel, dominante Saisons, und jetzt so ein bitteres Aus. Klar, Nordic Storm war mutig, kreativ, und Coach Oliver Schub hat sein Team perfekt eingestellt. Aber trotzdem – das tut weh.
Jetzt geht’s für Storm gegen Vienna Vikings. Und Fire? Muss sich neu sortieren. Ich hoffe, die Jungs nehmen das als Antrieb. Denn eins ist klar: Rhein Fire gehört in die Playoffs. Und nächstes Jahr? Da holen wir uns das Ding zurück.

Honestly, I’ve been looking forward to the Wild Card Game all day. Nordic Storm against Rhein Fire – defending champions against debutants. And I thought to myself: Sure, this will be a statement game from Fire. But what happened then? Completely wild.
Nordic Storm takes the lead early, and I still think: „Okay, this is just the beginning, Fire is coming soon.“ And then – BAM – Jonathan Scott with a 69-yard touchdown run. I almost jumped off the couch. Such a thing, simply through the middle, breaks two tackles, runs away from everyone. That was fire football, as I love it. And I thought: Here we go.
But Nordic Storm? They just kept going. Jadrian Clark was unstoppable. Three touchdown passes, as if it were a training game. And Simon Fons? The guy catches two things in the end zone as if he’s wearing magnetic gloves. I mean, come on.
Fire fought his way in, no question. Harlan Kwofie with a strong running TD, Jeffries with solid passes – but somehow it was not enough. In the end it’s 28:23 for Storm. And I sit there, staring at the screen, and thinking to myself, „That’s it?“
I am a Rhein Fire fan through and through. Two years of titles, dominant seasons, and now such a bitter end. Sure, Nordic Storm was brave, creative, and coach Oliver Schub set up his team perfectly. But still – it hurts.
Now it’s time for Storm against Vienna Vikings. And Fire? Need to sort out. I hope the guys take that as a driver. Because one thing is clear: Rhein Fire belongs in the playoffs. And next year? We’ll get the thing back.
